Bored Ape sells for $24 million
This last year has been amazing for NFTs. This once obscure technology is going mainstream.
And with every passing day, something new happens that makes us all take a step back. And think about how far we’ve come.
We had one of those moments this last week when a board ape sold for $24 million.
Think about how much money that is.
As the industry sets more records like this, one thing is becoming increasingly clear. This technology isn’t going away.
Plenty of people are criticizing the buyer for spending an absurd amount of money on “something stupid.”
But that Bored Ape may very well sell for $100 million or more in the future. After all, you could’ve bought one of these board apps for a few hundred bucks a couple months ago.
Whether or not you own a board ape, we should all be excited and proud as more people realize the opportunity.
Google partners with Dapper labs
Dapper labs is a team that is building Flow. A block chain system with an emphasis on NFTs and gaming.
Flow already supports some of the biggest NFT projects including NBA topshots and CryptoKities.
Google will also help Flow developers with Google Cloud services. Google will help the team build scalable and secure infrastructure for the future.
Dapper labs raised over $300 million dollars with investors like Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant.
This could be a game changing alliance.
Flow is one of the many projects trying to power the decentralized web. Right now, Ethereum is leading the space. But there are plenty of competitors like Cardono, Avalanche, Solana, and many more.
Could this propel Flow to the top?
Maybe. It depends what Google does with this partnership.
There have been plenty of big partnership announcements that didn’t fundamentally change cryptocurrencies in the past.
Flow claims to be more scalable than Ethereum. Which may be the answer to the absurdly high transaction fees right now.
The project is definitely worth looking into. And as much as I love Ethereum, I’m always willing to migrate for better tech.
Gaming NFT Platform Raises $60 million
Immutable is building an NFT platform specifically for games.
It’s built on top of the Ethereum network and will allow players to easily trade, sell, and exchange NFTs.
This platform is going to allow regular developers to use NFTs and blockchains in their games. Without having to bother with learning everything about blockchains.
The team also announced that they will be issuing a token $IMX which will be tied to the marketplace.
The immutable team is also planning to release $GODS token for their game, Gods Unchained.
This is especially exciting because Coinbase is an investor in Gods Unchained. Which means they might get a Coinbase listening fairly early on.
Personally, I plan on researching this project a little bit more. But if it passes all my little checks, I’ll likely add a bit to my portfolio.
